We've had two of these for 4 years, which may non seem like much, but we utilise it every night, so that's over 700 uses at the maximum one-60 minutes setting for each unit. And while the steamer itself continues to function after that period, the plastic at the bottom has deteriorated. When a tier tub begins to degrade and disintegrate, a new steamer is but equally cheap as a new tub. br>I concur with another user who stated that the timer cannot be set backwards, which is inconvenient. However, because we only utilize it for rice, nosotros always plough the dial all the way to the left. Nosotros chose this steamer over traditional rice steamers considering we didn't want the rice to get too hot. It simply goes silent. (Every night before we go to bed, nosotros make rice for our dogs' nutrient - Please do not enquire! We haven't tried it with vegetables, so we can't comment on how well it cooks them, but it does a good job with rice (though it takes an hour, which is much longer than stove-top cooking. ) Rice steamers tin exist used on the stovetop or in special rice steamers.
